Hamper Treats for Tour de Yorkshire Winners

The winners of this year’s prestigious Tour de Yorkshire cycling race can look forward to a delicious hamper treat from Lewis & Cooper. Winners of all three stages, and the women’s race from Tadcaster to Harrogate on Saturday April 29, will be presented with a Lewis & Cooper hamper packed with food and drink from local Yorkshire producers.
The specialist grocers from Northallerton have been named as official hamper suppliers to the race, which starts in Bridlington on Friday April 28 and attracts some of the world’s biggest cycling stars to the county.
“We’re delighted to showcase the best of Yorkshire in a race that now enjoys huge popularity all around the world,” says Lewis & Cooper Operations Director Victoria Howard.
“We’ve put together a special race hamper containing speciality foods and drinks produced along the routes, including craft beers, shortbread and biscuit treats - and, of course, famous Yorkshire Tea.
“I’m sure the winners will work up an appetite on this year’s race, and we’re delighted to give them a delicious souvenir that will remind them of Yorkshire.”
The Tour de Yorkshire, which started in 2015, is the brainchild of Welcome to Yorkshire Chief Executive Sir Gary Verity, who brought the Tour de France Grand Depart to the county against all the odds the previous year.
Sir Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “Yorkshire is home to some of the finest food and drink in the world, so it’s only fitting that the winners of the Tour de Yorkshire take home a selection of the county’s delicacies from Lewis and Cooper to remind them of their time here.”
Last year’s race, which passed through Northallerton and Thirsk, attracted a worldwide TV audience of 11.4m in 178 countries and earned almost £60m for the Yorkshire economy.
